Narrative

Last Term Glen Taylor entered the narrative competition and this is my piece.

The Poor Family

Smash! he got knocked out, he tried to get back up but he’s so hungry his mouth was as dry as sand, he couldn’t stand back up on his skinny fragile legs. Then he
began to look for food scraps, but the only thing he managed to find was breadcrumbs spread along the floor of the filthy hallway.
He looked sadly around him, looking at students devour food that he couldn’t provide, so he continued searching endlessly for scraps on the floor of the long trashy hallway. He walked awkwardly up to the wealthy students, and he felt as nervous as if he’s in front of a huge crowd, he asked for food, but he got rejected every time he attempt. He smelt the scent of the mouth drooling burgers, fries, and hot dogs in the warm air.
He looked to the side to see his brother getting shoved and mocked, because whenever something wrong happened, they blamed him and his brother. His Parents was struggling to get money, to put food on the table and his sisters are in hospital lying unconsciously. His mum was crying next to the bed praying to God saying “God please help my family we’re struggling to get the things we need Lord I’m begging you please”, he walked outside and was crying down on his bruised knees looking up to the sky. He continued to ask God “why am I struggling Lord? please help me and my Family”.

His parents couldn’t afford flashy things, so they were always grateful.
In class sitting down, a pack of boys walked up to him saying  “go hang yourself loser” he asked “why?”, and they replied “because you’re a disgrace to this school and our class”.

The Teacher glanced over to his direction and doesn’t seem to do anything about the problem, he stood up and confronted them saying “Why are you guys being so discriminative to me and my family just because you guys have more money than us that doesn’t give you permission to do whatever. What have we’ve done to ever affect you guys, my family is struggling to get money because money don’t just grow on trees. You earn it, but for you guys you walk up to your parents and force them to give you money, that’s it for you, but my family needs money and we can’t afford all that crappy rich stuff so leave me and my family out of it”. SMASH the boys clashed their fists onto his face making him fall flat on the scruffy dusty carpet.

This message is for bullies and the people who are not grateful for what they get. Remember Money does not rain from the sky or grow on plants, appreciate what you get and accept it. You guys get food and other people don’t so think about it, if you were homeless you will accept anything that will come your way. So don’t be rich and waste your food.
The End
